M Chandrakasi of AIADMK (alliance: NDA) won in this seat defeating VCK. AIADMK polled 4,29,536 of the total of 10,88,389 votes polled. VCK won the seat in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections.
Chidambaram goes to the polls in the 2st phase of the 2019 General Elections to choose the 17th Lok Sabha on Thursday, April 18, 2019. The election results for the seat are scheduled for Thursday, May 23, 2019.
The voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections was 79.70%.
